$25,000 Donation Funds Musical Instruments and Supplies

Elementary school student drumming in classroom.

The Roseville City School District Foundation recently donated $25,000 to our elementary and middle schools to help purchase additional musical instruments and supplies for the 2018-19 school year.

This donation is part of a commitment we have made to help grow and expand the District's music education program, which was re-introduced in 2016. Since then, the Foundation has contributed $140,000 to the program!

The Foundation has committed to making annual donations each year of at least $25,000. These donations are possible because students and parents come out and participate in our annual fundraising events, such as the Run4Roseville Schools (save the date - April 28, 2019), and also because of the generous community and business sponsors who support our mission.

Here's what our donation helped to purchase:

Ukuleles

Percussion sets

Boomwhackers

Mallets

Chimes

Digital pianos

Alto saxophones

Tenor saxophones

Flutes

Recorders

Xylophones

Metallophone

Wide bar Glockenspiel

Bongos

Snare cajon

Digital music subscriptions

Music curriculum, including books and magazines

Risers, chair dolly and rug/carpet for music rooms

Music education is about so much more than learning to sing or play an instrument. Research has shown that children who learn music do better in other subjects. The skills they gain in music help with language development, increased IQ, creativity, spatial-temporal skills, coordination and improved test scores. They also build teamwork and camaraderie with their fellow students and have fun!
